GP 42 AA
2007
The ORC GP42 is a BOX RULE expressly designed to create a 42-foot level class. The GP 42 is very similar in concept and design to the well-known and successful TP52 Class and competes along-side the TP52 in many of their class events.
The ORC GP42’s principle characteristics call for a light displacement, simple fractional rig boat with non-overlapping jibs, no running backstays and significant sail area. The result is great performances and relatively affordable costs.
The rules and specifications for the ORC GP42 Classes provide close racing without time allowance in grand prix competition. The yachts designed to this rule are fast, sound and seaworthy, thereby requiring a minimum of modification and good value beyond their competitive life as grand prix racers.
Outside of GP42 class racing, this design offers fast and competitive racing under IRC and Performance Handicaps.
