ALAN SALISCH - Designer
Alan joined the Farr Yacht Design team in 2005. Alan's responsibilities include conceptual design and exterior styling, interior arrangements and styling, mechanical systems, and computer rendering and animation.
Alan comes to Farr Yacht Design with a broad background in design, project management and construction of diverse yacht and commercial vessel projects up to 90 meters. Prior to joining the FYD team Alan lead his own firm for 10 years consulting to naval architects, builders and private clients on projects ranging from a 10 meter folding one design trimaran to a 46 meter sailing yacht.
In his youth Alan began repairing, and then building and sailing skiffs to his own design. Later, in-between studying architecture and working evenings in Boston, Alan contributed as a volunteer building the 125ft (38m) Gloucester fishing schooner/ambassador ship "Spirit of Massachusetts". And again, after a number of years at the drawing board designing homes and institutional buildings, he would find himself drawn back to the water building, among others, the 115ft (35m) ketch "Signe" in Down East Maine.
Growing up on Long Island sound and throughout his years living in coastal Maine and Massachusetts Alan sailed a variety of skiffs and keelboats, inshore and offshore. Alan now actively participates in the Chesapeake and offshore racing scene.
Alan makes his home in Annapolis with his wife Maria Dolores and daughter Mariña.
