FARR YACHT DESIGN ANNOUNCES CLASS 40 PROJECT
Farr Yacht Design is proud to announce that it has been commissioned by BTBoats Ltd., a New Zealand company, to produce a new Class 40 yacht design. The Class 40 is a boat which aims to be a seaworthy, performance oriented, ocean-racing yacht which can compete where possible within a limited budget. The design work, which is scheduled to begin immediately, will provide geometry for a tooling start in January of 2010. The first boat built to this design is scheduled for an August 2010 launch.
“We’ve been watching this class for a while now, and looking for the right opportunity to join the fun. The team at FYD is excited because this is an ideal opportunity to trickle down some of the great design innovations that we’ve developed in our Open 60 and Volvo 70 work.” said Patrick Shaughnessy, President of Farr Yacht Design.
