ROB COATNEY, Design Engineer

Rob Coatney joined Farr Yacht Design in May 2008 as a Design Engineer primarily responsible for research and design of appendages.

Originally from Juneau, Alaska, Rob earned a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana in 2006. Prior to joining our team, Rob worked in the aerospace industry and youth programs in Alaska.

At the age of 12, Rob began sailing dinghies on the lakes of Illinois. During his college years he was a member of the University of Illinois Sailing Club and became heavily involved in all aspects of sailing. Rob enjoys designing and building radio-controlled aircraft and currently holds a student pilot license.
