Also available are plans for a 12 ft plywood dinghy designed within the "Cherub" class rules. These rules limit sail area to 105 sq ft for main and jib, with 80 sq ft spinnaker. This class is more subdued than the unrestricted 12 ft class, and has enjoyed long term popularity in New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom.

With crew only on trapeze, fully decked back to the mast and ample reserves of buoyancy in the event of a capsize, this class has provided the first taste of competitive racing for many renowned yachtsmen from Australia and New Zealand.

The boat is ideal for youth sailing on a limited budget while still providing fast and lively sailing on and off the wind.
