Designer’s Notes
Design #329 - IMS 43 April 1995 FLASH GORDON 2, Helmut Jahn's new IMS 43 extends, modifies and improves on the concepts developed in his first FLASH GORDON the IMS 39. This new design by Bruce Farr and Associates, Inc. has taken the latest technology and the most sophisticated materials allowed by the IMS rule and created another super fast racing yacht that is sure to turn heads and take top honors in her class. The IMS 43 is designed to race at the top of IMS B in many U.S. regattas against a very competitive fleet of existing 40 to 43 footers, including the ILC 40's. While adhering to the IMS Racing Division Requirements, carbon fiber hull and deck construction were chosen for its light weight and stiffness which should prove to be beneficial in windier conditions and choppy seas. Other components such as the internal framing and rudder stock are also constructed from carbon to gain the maximum advantage.
